12/21/2011 - ESI Payroll 2012 Available for Download Next Week

The 2012 payroll update will be available for download by the end of next week. If you have purchased a subscription for the 2012 calendar year, you will be able to download the update using the Check for Updates feature in the software. If you have yet to purchase an update fill out the payroll order form and fax or e-mail it to us.

11/29/2011 - 2012 Payroll Support & Update Order Form

The 2012 payroll update will be available towards the end of December. If you are renewing your subscription download and fill out the order form and fax to 1.604.990.1789.

04/21/2011 - ESILAW 2011 Hotfix 3

ESILAW 2011 Hotfix 3 is now available for download. This latest hotfix addresses minor issues in the 2011.1.2 release, including those that affect client search speed and limitation diary entries for new clients. If you use the limitation diary we recommend that you install the hotfix to avoid any potential issues when adding entries for new clients. 03/29/2011 - Law Society of Alberta Electronic Submission Tool

ESILAW 2011.1.2 features a new export tool developed for the Law Society of Alberta. This new feature allows firms to quickly and easily export an electronic copy of data for submission to the Law Society in lieu of filing an annual Accountant's Report. ESILAW 2011 Hotfix 2 is now available for download using Check for Updates. This latest hotfix addresses a number of minor issues in 2011. Complete details on the issues resolved are available in the accompanying release notes.

If you're using ESILAW 2011.1 you can download the latest hotfix using the Check for Updates feature. The hotfix addresses a number of minor issues in the 2011.1 release. We'll be releasing a second hotfix for 2011 in the next week or so so keep an eye out for that as well.

11/29/2010 - ESILAW 2011 - More New Features and Enhancements

ESILAW 2011 is finally here! This latest release offers several new features along with enhancements to existing ones. A short summary of what's included is outlined below.

• Automatically e-mail bills and/or statements to clients.
• New Adjust Bill feature that allows entry of soft costs and anticipated disbursements and automatic recalculation of bill fees or totals when using Create Bills.
• Addition of client-level tax rates that allow you to set individual rates for clients.
• New request and release trust transfers to pay A/R functionality. Using this feature you can request trust transfers to pay A/R and release corresponding cheques.
• New Invoice journal report that reports invoices by client.
• Enhancements to the Limitation Diary including custom limitation codes, additional reporting criteria, and a stand-alone Limitation Diary form.
• New Learning Center with interactive tutorials that teach you how to use ESILAW features. Additional tutorials will be added on a regular basis.
• Additional enhancements and bug fixes.

8/17/2010 - New ICBC LEDES Module

The new ICBC LEDES Allegient billing interface will be available by Friday, August 20th. As this is a completely new billing interface as a result of the ICBC billing change, you will need to purchase an upgrade if you are using the current ICBC billing interface. Firms not currently using ESILAW ICBC billing and requiring the ICBC LEDES billing module should also contact sales for further details. Sales can be reached at 1.888.663.4545, Monday to Friday, 8AM to 4:30PM.

7/21/2010 - New Support Request Form

You can now submit a request for support on-line by selecting the Support Request button in the in the top right corner of the Customer Support Center.

6/30/2010 - ICBC E-Billing Update Changes Coming

ICBC has announced that they will be transitioning in the very near future to an e-billing system whereby bills will be processed by Allegient. This announcement affects ESILAW ICBC users as the e-billing format will change and therefore require an update.

ESILAW is already equipped to handle task-based billing using formats such as LEDES 2000 and 98b, but the current ICBC format does not meet these standards. As these will be the required Allegiant e-bill formats an update will be released to modify the ICBC module so it is LEDES compatible. This will allow firms to create and submit bills in the required format.

6/8/2010 - ESILAW 2010.2.1 Now Available for Download

The HST update, included in ESILAW 2010.2.1, is now available for download. If you subscribe to ESICare use the Check for Updates feature in ESILAW to download and install the update. If you do not subscribe to ESICare please contact sales at 1.888.663.4545 for information on purchasing the 2010.2.1 HST update.

5/31/2010 - Updating Billing Templates for HST

Once the 2010.2.1 release is available and installed, you'll be able to update your billing templates for HST. You should not modify billing templates until such time that you want them to reflect the HST label.

• If you use Create Bills for billing you will not need to make changes to billing templates as the 2010.2.1 update will update the template tax labels automatically.
• If you use word processing billing (biling to Word/WordPerfect) you will need to make changes to your templates so the tax label reflects HST. Watch the video below and refer to the help file for information on how to change templates.

• ESI can update your templates remotely over the Internet or through an e-mail exchange. Rates start at $49 plus applicable taxes. Please note that we do not provide services to update tax calculations for recalculating templates.

5/31/2010 - ICBC Billing HST Update

As a result of the upcoming tax changes there will be a special ICBC update, which allows you to quickly change tax flags on client files to reflect the HST rates. The ICBC update is $49 plus applicable taxes and will be made available for download in the next few weeks. To order the update simply fill out the order form below and fax it to 1.604.990.1779.

5/27/2010 - ESICare Pro Troubleshooting Assistance

In recent months there has been an increase in the number of support calls related to factors outside of ESILAW such as network setup, computer hardware, security software, and third party products or services. These calls affect the quality of support we can provide to ESICare subscribers on our own products due to the amount of time it takes to resolve non-ESILAW related issues. As a result, we will no longer be handling support calls for third party products, services, or network installations under standard ESICare plans and recommend you speak to your product or service provider for assistance.

In lieu of this change we are now offering a new ESICare Pro Troubleshooting Assistance service, ideal for firms that require assistance for problems outside of the scope of standard ESICare coverage (i.e. virus software configuration, network troubleshooting, etc.). 5/12/2010 - Office 2010 Support

ESILAW 2010.2 hotfix 1, scheduled for release in the next few weeks, will feature support for Office 2010 for word processing billing, creating documents, and other Office related features. The hotfix will also provide additional HST changes to address tax calculations. You can subscribe to the mailing list to be notified of this and other important releases by selecting the Subscribe to the Mailing List link in the bottom right corner.

3/29/2010 - 2010.2 to Offer Excel Reporting and HST

We're just about finished testing 2010.2, which is scheduled for release next month. The 2010.2 release will introduce new features such as reporting to Excel, automatic receipt numbering, color coding of cheques, and provide several enhancements and bug fixes. In addition 2010.2 will include the HST update for those affected by the upcoming tax changes.

If you have custom programs installed we will be contacting you towards the end of April with information about upgrading to 2010.2.
