User Settings
The User Settings screen enables you to customize ESILAW's interface so that you can access menu items and features in the manner that is most efficient for you. The options available on this screen depend on the menu style you are using.
Select User Settings from the Settings menu at the top of the screen, and click the General tab.
By default, the QuickStart screen displays as the background after ESILAW is installed for the first time. Use it as a guide when you are configuring the program for your firm. Follow the links to add your lawyers and timekeepers, to set up your areas of law, time and disbursement codes, and to add your clients/matters. It also reminds you of tasks such as setting up user accounts and passwords, configuring the Chart of Accounts, and selecting a document management folder. Once a task is complete, mark it Done so that you can easily see which items are outstanding. After your setup is complete, you can hide the QuickStart screen.
In the Language field select English or Français to display program screens and reports in your preferred language. This setting overrides the Language option in System Settings.
You can select a bitmap file (a file with the extension ".bmp") to display as the program background. Click Set Background Image, select a file and click Ok. You can select a file from any location.
Click the Documents tab to configure the Document Management system, which organizes folders and documents related to your clients and matters. This tab is enabled if your computer's mapping to the document folders differs from the mapping specified in the System Settings screen. Use the options to select the folder in which client/matter documents are located.
Click Ok to close the User Settings screen.
Select User Settings from the Settings menu at the top of the screen, and click the Navigators tab.
Use the Navigator options to choose whether menus are displayed with buttons in the Classic style, or as Navigators. The Navigators provide short descriptions of program features, helping users who are new to the program select tasks more easily. If selected, the main Navigator displays as the screen background. It is useful for new users who are unsure where to find a particular program function or menu item, and also helps clarify data flow through the program. This screen also provides links to information on training and assistance. If the main Navigator is selected, you can view it by clicking Navigator on the sidebar. To hide a Navigator, select its check box. To display it again, clear its check box.

Note: Each person may have his or her own background setting, except when multiple people "share" a single user name. The background setting is stored by user number, which is related to user name. If multiple people share one user name they will share the same background setting.
