Applying receipts to unbilled disbursements
Select the Unbilled Disbursements option on the Enter Receipts screen to apply a payment to a client/matter’s unbilled disbursements (work in progress). This option records the receipt on the client/matter ledger so that the receipt (credit) will offset the original disbursement entry.
You can't use this option with task-based clients/matters.
Use this feature only if you have documentation verifying how the funds should be disbursed (for example, a letter from an insurance company indicating payment of a specific medical report). If you do not have documentation, deposit the funds into the trust account and then enter a trust check to pay the disbursement.
If the disbursement is taxable, the tax amount receipted will update the Tax 1 Billed/Collected account. The tax field applies only to firms operating in Canada.
